'To Have or to Harm'.
Currently, there are limited resources documenting and detailing the dangers and solutions to the burgeoning problem of stalking. Linden Gross has provided us with comprehensive research and suggestions from her book, 'To Have or To Harm' for dissemination on this site.
In the first book ever written about the stalking of ordinary people, Gross profiles cases that dramatically reveal the extensive dimensions of the problem. Her analysis helps clarify a dynamic infused withmisinformation and confusion.
In addition to profiling stalkers and their victims, To Have or to Harm' delves deeper into the subject, covering police and legal issues, behavioral and psychological patterns that lead to an escalation of violence, and the approach the Los Angeles Police Department has pioneered to address the problem.
The author was aided in her research by the prominent Los Angeles security advisor, Gavin de Becker, who has also written an introduction to the book. De Becker is widely regarded as our nation's leading expert onstalking. His work has earned him three Presidential appointments, as well as a position on a congressional committee on stalking.
"To Have or to Harm' places this vital issue into perspective, shows how we got in and how we can get out," writes Gavin de Becker, America's leading authority on stalking. 'It will save some lives and improve many others. It will help those victims who need to know what to do right now, and, more importantly, it will help many of you never to become victims at all."

'The Stalking of Kristin'.
As Gloria Steinem says; ' there are no crimes of passion, only crimes of possession. Stalkers are obsessed. They can't let go!'
Washington Post reporter George Lardner, author of 'The Stalking of Kristin', in a live conference on Women's Wire on CompuServe. Lardner won the Pulitzer Prize for his investigation of the stalking and murder of his daughter by her ex-boyfriend. Michael Cartier was under court order to stay away from Kristin when he killed her, and then killed himself in 1992. George Lardner; 'Prosecutors and police, I'm afraid, have taken it on themselves to veto stalking laws by not enforcing them. They are often the only weapons in certain situations and they need to be enforced.'
